I should, however, say that the record is very faint in parts and it's actually more like "...daughter of Joseph Hillman and...[illegible words] Lillian."

The faint words likely say "and of his wife" which is pretty standard for how they wrote the names of the parents in the parish records from what I've seen.

davygfuchsia, if you think that is your Irene (and the explanation that she didn't know her mother's name is certainly plausible), I found the births for two children for the couple as well. Since there is a possibility that they are still alive I'll send you the names in a PM but I'll list the entries here by their initials:

Longueuil (Anglican, Saint Mark)

M.I. Spencer was baptised on 8 Jun 1930, born 16 Feb 1930
M.C. Spenser was baptised on 19 Jan 1941, born 31 Oct 1940

That's a big gap between births but I didn't see any others for them.

Hello,
just found your inquiry.
Irene Nancy Hillman was baptised in Stafford 16.8.1906. [A younger sister of my grandmother]
Father was a Joseph Hillman b 1849 a baker/grocer of Stafford around the Doxey area.
Mother was Dorothy Pickstock b 1867 in Ashbourne. m1890 in Cannock.
This was Joseph Hillmans second marriage.
Lots of children from both.
Would love to hear your connection to my great aunt Irene.
was aware she had gone to Canada as was informed by family.
regards,
Mel Cartwright

Hi Mel ..
Thank you for your message .I have been working on my family tree for many years now ,but not done much for a while and I am a bit rusty with all the names .
Irene is my Great Grand Aunt  ...Might you be related via Henry Cartwright? who married Dolly Hillman ?

Hello George,
Henry better known as Harry and Dolly are my grandparents.
it was nice to get some information on Irene and her move to Canada.
Have been looking into my 'family' for a few months now.
I really wanted to trace the Cartwright side but have had very little joy.
The Hillman/ Pickstock/ Booth side has been a lot easier even with all the children!!
Which of the Hillmans are you descended from, if you don't mind me asking?
Are you still resident in Stafford?
I left Stafford mid 70's and now live in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
Hope to hear more from you.
Cheers,
Mel Cartwright

Hi

Did you manage to trace the Richard Hillman who married Margaret Shaw who married May 1786 in Stafford?
