Hello Heather

In one of your replies there is something confusing me.

Abode           Prof

Merecroft      Sawyer
Back St         Sawyer
Worksop       Sawyer

What or where is Merecroft and Sawyer are they place names or peoples names and what does Prof mean.

I can`t find Meercroft or Sawyer on any map.

Thanks a million Steve

Hiya :)

Prof = profession. He was a sawyer.

Abode = where they were living. I suspect Merecroft in the baptism records is the same as Marecroft in the census record I found - an area of Worksop. Though I'm sorry I have no idea where it was or which was the correct spelling!

Hope that helps, Heather
