First time in Derbyshire!
« on: Monday 28 December 09 12:55 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I have just discovered a possible connection to Derbyshire.  These are the few details I have:
Hannah Cadman born 1838 (poss) daughter of Richard Cadman 1796 Derbyshire and Mary Bagley 1796 Ashley Staffs who married 30 Dec 1819 in Ashley Staffs and had the following children:

Maria Cadman 1820 Shropshire
Sarah Cadman 1823 Shropshire
William Cadman 29 Sep 1825 Chelaston Bap. Derbyshire
Richard Cadman 1833 Wrockwardine Shropshire
Hannah Cadman 1836 Shrophire
Mary Cadman 1839 Wrockwardine Shropshire
Elizabeth Cadman 24 April 1842 Wrockwardine Shropshire

I am trying to connect the marriage of Hannah Cadman to George Cooke registered in Mar 1857 in Nantwich Cheshire.

This is all a little pie in the sky as Hannah Cadman is very elusive.
There is a Hannah born in 1838 in Market Drayton which can cover Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire and a marriage to George Cooke detailed above.

Any sugestions of where else I can look warmly welcomed,
Abiam

There is also a Hannah Cadman born 1838 in Woore, Mucklestone, Shropshire comes under Mucklestone, Shropshire.  Parents are Richard and Martha.

Just added a note and then saw your reply!  This looks interesting.  Am I right that George's father Charles is widowed and that Hannah is 33?  Off to find where Barthomley is!
Cheers Abiam

On census Hannah (before and after marriage to george Cooke) consistently gives her y.o.b as 1829 and p.o.b. as Audley Staffs

1851 she is single and a servant in Cheshire

this looks like her in 1841

Barthomley Staffs
Thomas Cadman 35
Margaret 35
William 15
HANNAH 13
John 10
Thomas 8
Richard 4
Margaret 2
Joseph 3mths
all b in county
HO107 986 6 7

Thanks Suz,
That is looking good.  I was using FindMyPast and in '51 they are down as CARTER!  Unusual for FindMyPast to have it wrong.
Find one answer and get 2 more - Thomas and Margret Cadman where are they after 1841 both born Staffordshire?
And George and Hannah have a 10 year old son John Cooke aged 10 in 1851 and they married in 1857 - a bit late!
Cheers,
Abiam

If you look at the information ashie provided -you will notice that George Cooke was a widower (marital status refers to george -not his father) when he married Hannah -so the son is most probably from his 1st marriage

It must be the aftermath of Christmas!  Well that's my excuse for getting so confused with this lot,  sorry to have been so dense.   :-[
Thank you,
