Sherrifhales re James Hicks 1922

I have a silver tray which was presented to James and Sarah Hicks from the inhabitants of Sherrifhales on leaving the village, dated 28 March 1922. I was aware he had some connection with farming as I know some mention has been made about a  Middle farm. Any information would be welcome
