World War II Service Records and or Death Certificates
« on: Tuesday 29 December 09 09:58 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Can someone tell me if it is possible to access WWII records for South African soldiers and if so where does one go?

Also where can I obtain a South African Death certificate from the mid 1940's.

Thankyou

Deanne

Ok, I've found a few references to my family now have to get hold of that information.  From Australia that's not that easy though.

Hi there,
At the top of the board there is a sticky explaining how to get death notices. It is through the Eggsa, although it can take time as it is all manned by volunteers.
If you have difficulty let me know - where are they listed? If in Capetown, it is a little more difficult but i know someone who may be able to help.

Thanks Ruth, I'll try that.  They lived in Pretoria so I imagine all the information is there somewhere?  I believe the records are held by district?
