what else do you know about John Seward?
could this be him and his family?
1891 5 Adpar St. Paddington
John Seward 48 Park Keeper born Hackney
Emma (wife) 41 Shoreditch
Sarah (dau) 18 Wales
Alice (dau) 13 Ireland
James (son) 10 Woolwich
Joseph (son) 5 Paddington
He certainly got arround - maybe was a soldier
Quite possibly he was a soldier, he may also be another red herring though. The trouble is, that there are so many offshoots of the same family it appears.
For example. I have a Thomas Daniel Seward and wife Fanny late Brady, formerly Davis, who have a child Elizabeth Alice Seward in 1852 and registered not far away at Shoreditch, now, she later gives birth, illegitimatly, to my Great Grandfather, Edward Thomas Seward at Bethnal Green Workhouse in 1870. I can virtually follow on from there up to the present in a direct manner, that is to say, without side shoots.
My earlier comments from a post on here show a John Cornelius Seward being born in 1843, somehow an Elizabeth is mentioned as either an aunt or some relation or other, so it all starts to fragment at that point.
I am given to believe that the Thomas and or, the John was very religious, so the soldier thing may be a misnomer, who knows.
The whole family eventually ends up near and in Hammersmith/Fulham and Kensington, not a stones throw from Paddington, hence the clawlike interest I have..
It has started to do my head in a bit now after a couple of days, going backwards is not my way it would seem just at present..
