Watson/Barron - Banchory-Ternan
« on: Monday 04 January 10 18:49 GMT (UK) »
I am seeking descendants of Ann (nee Barron) and John Watson, mainly to see if they can shed further light on Ann's roots.  Ann Barron was born in 1832 in Old Machar & married John Watson on 7 Apr 1853 in Old Machar.  Their children were as follows:

Mary, b. 1850 (!!) Old Machar
Jane b 1854, Old Machar (my great-grandmother,married Andrew Craven 1877: we have good knowledge of this line down to me)
Alexandr, b. 1856, Old Machar (d. 1927)
John, b. 1858, Old Machar
George, b. 1860, Old Machar
Helen, B. 1862, Old Machar
William, b. 1864, Old Machar
Margaret, b. 1866, Old Machar
Robert, b. 1868, Banchory-Ternan
Ann, b. 1870, B-T
James, b. 1872, B-T
David b. 1875, B-T

We know for sure that Ann's parents were William Barron and Mary Mitchell and they were buried in Old Machar in 1848 and 1854 respectively.

There are 2 differing opinions on the parentage.  LDS has a record of a William Barron marrying a Mary Mitchell in 1808 in Gamrie but, as William was born about 1794, this would make him only 14 at the time.  Mary would have been 17.  There is only one LDS record of a child from this union: Elspet in 1810.

I think that, if I make this call for descendants, someone may have a better idea of how to tackle this - or even have more information for us!  I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Happy New Year to all readers of this post!
