COMPLETED Campton PR - burial CHEW
« on: Monday 04 January 10 18:51 GMT (UK) »
An Ebenezer CHEW was buried at Campton on 26 Dec 1810.

If anyone has access to the transcript I'd be very grateful for a look up for any additional detail. Son of Edward and Hannah would be fine!

Many thanks

David

Fine it is then David.

The only Chew in the Campton with Shefford parish records (up to 1812) is the burial on 26 Dec 1810 of Ebenezer, son of Edw and Hannah Chew.

The Beds FHS have just published the MIs of Campton All Saints, I'll take a look at it on Friday evening, assuming the meeting's not called off because of the snow.

That's great. Many thanks John. There were two Ebenezers born within a couple of years of each other, and I needed to eliminate one of them to decide who married and later lived in Biggleswade.

My Southill baptists lead me a merry dance! Hannah Cawdell the mother was of Campton when she married Edward Chew at Southill, but she wasn't baptised at Campton, although she was later buried there. Eddie later became the pastor at Westoning. I don't know whether they lived at Southill or Campton though.

Thanks again

David

John Ebers buried at Campton 13 Jan 1797

It's better to start a new topic rather than tack it onto an existing thread

Most of Beds burials up to about 1851 are on the National Burial Index, a CDrom set which is also available on the pay per view site http://www.findmypast.co.uk/home.jsp

It's just an index so doesn't include all the detail which might be found in the full entry. In 1797 for a male adult the only other information you're likely to find is occupation eg labourer

For a copy of the actual entry you'd need to order the microfilm from, and view it at, your nearest LDS Family History Centre. Not sure where you are in Herts but there's one at Stevenage
