Hello Alison, Thanks for your amazing work...Times were tough in the early days of here in Melbourne...Mortality was high for all.
I don't have any other nother names for our Henry McGEE, but the other details that you report do stack up,...in time frame, & Roman Catholic & St Francis. So, you have given us lots to work on from now.
To clarify things, can we see a look up on the Inquests for Vic in 1862 to see more info that may give a link, ie get a ref number? I can go into the Vic GRO in Nth Melb to see the actual Inquest Papers, as we have done many time before...It is a valuable source also.
No, I don't know of any of his children at all. That is part of our search.
Kind Regards,
James
PS: Henry's parents were my GrtX 3 GrandParents. Also, we are building our site at:
http://howe.tribalpages.com/Hi James,
Henry James MCGEE m Mary OCALLAGHAN Roman Catholic St Francis Melbourne 1852 # 1412
1. Ada b 1858 Emerald Hill
Mary MCGEE d 1861 -
Henry James MCGEE in m Mary Foley 1862 # 1671
Mary MCGEE d 1862
There was an inquest into the death of a Mary MCGEE in 1862: Died of Kerosene Explosion. Could be this one or the above one depending on what time of the year she died and when the inquest was held.
Henry James MCGGE m Mary HAYDON 1863 # 1671
Mary MCGEE d 1874
1. Anna Maria b 1864 Melb
2. Henry James b 1865 Melb
3. Margaret Mary b 1867 Melb d 1868 Carlton
4. Nenia b 1868 Melb d 1868 Carlton
5. Edward Gerald b 1869 Melb d 1887 Carlton
6. Lawrence Joseph b 1871 Melb d 1884 Carlton Hosp
7. Florence Ernestina b 1872 Melb
8. Mabel May b 1874 Melb
So it is possible that Henry married all 3 women { terrible luck},... that's if this is your Henry and if it is the same man.
Did he have a second name James ? Do you know of any children ?
Regards
Alison
