help needed
« on: Sunday 10 January 10 12:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

iam new to finding your ancestry, was wondering if anyone is researching the Hooker Name, in particular,William Hooker who married Elizabeth Andrews Sept 1856 MARYLEBONE LONDON 1a 739, and had 3 sons William Hooker, born Marylebone, Thomas born Marylebone and Edward Hooker born 1862, who was Private 2nd Surrey, how do i obtain their birth certificates, and how can i find out about births and deaths, marriages, that took place in the island of New Hebrides in the South Pacific, as this once was a English and French ruled Island, as Edward Hooker was living and had children and died there, any pointer will very much appreciated, as I just going around in circles.

Thank you

Deb,

You have the details you need to order the certs of those born in the UK.  Go to www.gro.gov.uk and follow the links from there to order the certificates.  For those in the South Pacific you would I believe have to look there unless of course they were there on business from England then you may be able to find them in the UK births overseas lists which are at the National Archives.

If William Hooker was a missionary then the church that he represented might well have some records; if he was there on business follow Rob's suggestions.

HI Deb

I don't want to post what you may have so I'll ask some questions -

Do you have William and Elizabeth Hooker with any of the children in the census?

Do you have William Hooker with his parents in the census prior to his marriage?

Do you have Elizabeth Andrews with her parents in the census prior to her marriage?

And I'll wait an answer.

Wendy
