Hi

Keep an open mind FindMyPast divorces only go up to 1903  :)

Richards marriage to Gertrude could show whether he was widowed or previous marriage dissolved.

Mary may be the Mary E WHEELER who died Kingston Dec qtr 1966 aged 84, in which case (leaving aside blatant bigamy, unusual in this era) the 1923 marriage of Richard to Gertrude is likely to be of a different Richard.

Is there any reason to suppose that the Richard who married Mary Emma is the same Richard who married Gertrude?

I ruled that one out as Richard & Mary Emma (or at least one or more Wheeler/Day couples) appeared to be having children in Kingston RD up to 1915.

ETA: Also the full index shows that this Camberwell death is of a 58 yr old Mary Emma, so too old to be the right one.

Hi there

According to Percy's son he remembers calling his nan Gertrude so if Richard married her in 1923 it looks like a second married as percy was born in 1903. Thanks  :D
