I have had no luck finding Ada in 1901 or 1911, either widowed or remarried. I suspect she died in 1894.

JEFFERY Ada Jane Dec 1/4 1894 Dartford 2a 265. She was aged 31 years

Wilmington where her family were in 1891 and 1901 is in the Dartford District

Well Kris  that does seem  to point to her dying in  1894, I  guess only  the death certificate would  prove or disprove it though

kind thoughts Jenn

National Library digitised newspapers show the family arriving 10 March 1887, as you have said, on the Carlisle Castle leaving  London Dec 14
'Mr and Mrs F JEFFERY, family (two) and servant'.  It would be interesting to know her name.

http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home ( I searched The Argus for JEFFERY)

There is another mention of  Mr F JEFFERY from London and Manchester, contributing 'a bewitching display of ladies' lingerie' to the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition in 1888, which was somewhat similar to the Great Exhibition in London (I think in the 1850s).  Frederick was described as a manufacturer and/or importer in the Will documents so I wonder if he came specially to show his lingerie? (Item 24 on the search of the digi newspapers)

I can't see anything of Ada and the children returning to England on the Incoming Passenger lists.  However people sometimes disembarked in Europe and travelled on by train/ferry to UK.

Addition:

Frederick is buried at the Melbourne General Cemetery, C of E, Section M, Grave 742
His MI reads:
JEFFERY
Erected by
Ada
in memory of
her beloved husband
Frederick JEFFERY
native of Chard England who died
19 Dec 1890
aged 31 yrs
