In the course of research, my dad's cousin and I have been trying to find information on Charles Powell (who later took the middle name of Glendower, although we haven't yet found evidence of it being his birth name), who was - we believe! - born in Merthyr Tydfil in 1834 to Charles James Powell and his wife Ann Morgan.
What's got us stumped is that someone (I think it was on Ancestry) has him listed as theirs, and has him married to someone with the surname Briggs, in Wales, and fathering three children. This is interesting, because we're pretty sure he arrived in Australia in 1855, which would have meant he'd married and sired three children before he turned 21.
Try as we might, though, neither of us has been able to find concrete evidence for this marriage. Please, if only so that we can discount it, ... can anyone find a marriage listing for a Charles Powell and a bride whose maiden name was Briggs? I'm posting this here, and in the Monmouthshire board as well, because his grandparents (his grandfather was a vicar!) lived there, and we have no way of knowing where the marriage took place.
