Ordering a Birth Certificate by DOB
« on: Wednesday 13 January 10 18:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have an ancestor and am unsure of their birth name, but know their DOB and likely where they were born, a small village in a sparsely populated area. Does anyone know if it is possible to order a birth certificate based on a DOB?

David,

The answer would be no because they require you to have a name as thats how they are indexed

Does the village have a church?    Might you be able to find a baptism?  What date are we talking about?

Yes. I live about 20 miles from the church, but I think the records are on fiche as well. I will consult them too.
