I have a John Chamberlain B Abt. 1758 Attenborough, Notts,Married to a Dorothy Wallis B Abt. 1753 Bramcote, Notts /

Marriage Date 18 November 1783, Attenborough Notts  AS per IGI

Children:

Ann        Christened  6/5/1787          (No further Info)

John       Christened  10/5/1789     M   Mary Holson  18/12/1809

(William    Christened  25/12/1791  M  Unknown  disappeared on 1841 Census (Probably died)

I would dearly like to go back some more generations, but anything will do.

All born Barton in Fabis, Nottinghamshire.

According to the Phillimore marriage entry they married by licence, so you could send for a copy of the licence which may give you more information.

I can't see a baptism for a John Chamberlain at Attenborough, but there are these two.

John Chamberlain 21.3. 1762 to John & Ann at Wysall
John Chamberlain 10.3. 1763 to Saml & Martha at Arnold

Many thanks for your help.  I'm guessing by the number of Samuel's in following generations, that it is probably the latter.

Your source didn't perchance happen to show his parents names or siblings???

The IGI has a few generations back with Samuel and Martha Chamberlain, in Arnold.

Could I get that lucky.

     Sorry. They are the only details shown. I believe that "of Chilwell" only indicates the Parish at the time of marriage and may not be where born.
