John Henry - not James Henry - on 1871 census b. Caldbeck 1870. Re. John Thomas - ah tommy!! There is a John Thomas w. b. Padstow ag 52 - Mariner on 1851 census. Seems to be a lot of Tom/s around Padstow  around that time.  Are you fed up with these Toms now?  Wouldn't blame you !

Where did you get the 1851 census from ?

Oh course there isnt a lot of distance between Padstow and Tintagel. James could have been born in Tintagel because his Mum went to stay with family and then registered him for Padstow. John Thomas can you find out who he was married to and see if she had a connection with Tintagel ?

In the 1851 census who has John Thomas got living with him ?

1851 Census on Line Padstow- John Thomas was at an Inn - visitor- so no clues there. Also a Henry Tom with wife but he was only 27.b. Little Petherick. Will keep looking. Appreciate the help. A

So do I.  But looked again at Henry & Susan 1851 census & thought I had at last found him through a Family file of TOMs but again false trail!!! However looked again at  John Thomas Tom & through Genes Reunited a reply said he was married to  a Jenny Morrish Kestle 3/12/1837. So far don't know if they had any children & re census she was dead in 1851.Off to look at GRO in Library.( Husband saying - Get a life!!)
