Is it possible to hide from census and bmd records?

Mark Calway, Head, 48, Florist, Gloucester, Bristol
Harriett Calway, Wife, 45, Shopkeeper, Sussex Cuckfield

at Dulton Cottage, Chertsey

no-one else in household

Mark Calway, 58, Florist & Shopkeeper, Gloucester Bristol
Harriett Calway, 54, Sussex Lingfield

at 75 Station Road, Chertsey

Still no-one else in household

Just another observation:

I think most if not all the Mark Calverts showing across the censuses are from up't north (principally Yorkshire).

The Mark Calways I have listed were the only ones showing in each and every census.

There's a Frank Hugh Calway aged 15 showing in the 1901 as born Taunton Somerset - at a boarding school in Taunton.

If this is Francis (and we can't be sure) it still doesn;t explain his absence in 1881!

Thanks for looking - sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you -  I am in and out of hospital all the time at the mo waiting for the next generation of Silsburys to be born!

I think Francis Herbert was born around 1873 according to his marriage certificate so none of these people seem to fit all being born too late.  May have to accept that this is a line I just cannot trace!
