Again, thanks for your input.

I'm new to this so may have misunderstood the records. I think in1891 the Townsend boys lived in the Churmm houshold 75 Terrys Road Whitwood and are flagged as stepsons. I think the names you mention are from his "first" marriage.

also thanks to Suz for this  info

found this, too

1841
Sedgeley
William Millington 50 lab
Martha 45
Ann Townsend 20
Mary Anne 2

all b in county
HO107 26 28 1

Marriage FreeBMD
Jun qtr 1838
Walsall
William Townsend
Ann Millington
17 209

so if catharine Morris in 1851 census  is the one who married a Townsend -it looks like her mother was Ann Millington who married William Townsend  and then married (although not found a marriage) Robert Morris !!!!!

Of course we have yet to find a Morris Townsend marriage!!!!

Sounds like a nice complicated chain - and I think you again for your help.

In parallell I'm looking into the history of why they moved en block to the coal fields of yorkshire - presumably because the new mines were opening and work in sedgely was running out - sI've een some local history for sedgley that implies so

Also seen some Townsends living "next door" in one of the cenus records (which seems an uncanny coincidence) I think it was at 77  Terrys Row Whitwood Castleford in 1891. but I'm going from memory not paperwork

i have a family that moved from sedgley to castleford . it was def 1872-1874 that they made the move. there was a lot of work at that time in the mines and the glass works.

Also discovered recently that the Churm family still live local to me in Castleford - but as I was tacing the Townsend line I have not got in touch. My son went to scholl with their daughter - small world eh !!!
