for some reason can't reply directly - marrying a dead wife's sister was not allowed under Manx (or English) law at that period so strictly the marriage was illegal (tho still valid) - might have been a non-conformist thus children might not be baptised - in 1851 census at 10 Heywoods lane (or more usual Heywood place) - a short street leading up from North Quay Douglas (houses demolished in 1895 slum clearance but street still survives) - he was a mariner - all children shown as born Douglas eldest Robert age 10 which would appera to be before marriage in 1843
Ellen is buried age 33 at Braddan 10 May 1852 - suspect childbirth problems as also a 10 week Ellen Pearce buried at Braddan 16 Jul 1852 - this would be Braddan new yard - see

In 1861 I think he is a fisherman in living at Gellings Court (very close to 1851 address - it is possibly the same - another one slum cleared in 1895) age 47 - he was born england in 1851 but I can't read birth place in 61 except Dxx in xxxx
Possibly Ellen was s/o Thos Cannell + Elizabeth Moore (?m Malew 18040421) - however very large family so possibly there are two thos cannells + elizth moores - it is possible that Elizth dead by 1841(there is a bur braddan 7 Jun 1827 elizth cannel als moore age 43) and Thos is living with last child John (others would be servants working etc) in a shared tenement at Big Well st (just round corner from Heywoods place) he an ag lab and son John a ropers app
