You say all census from 1871-1901. 1911 census he has finally put argyshire

You have these ? so you can compare with the `other` James.
Do you have the Reference No`s, then they will easier to find.

I`m doing  a `blanket search` for John Clark in Argyll 1851 born 1810 + - 10 years.
So far have only found another one  quarrier.
Not much help so far. ??? No children at home though
Kilchattan, Kilbrandon Town: Toberonchey County: Argyll
Mary Clark 70 pauper
John Clark 33 quarrier.
Elizabeth Clark 30 dressmaker.

yes i have all other census
do you mean the folios etc i did say i am a 12 year research novice. I just looked up on Ancestory and found him. Also double checked bmd certs to check addresses were correct. Its just 1911 census is out of charecter as he finally moves from marylebone and is living with a married daughter in Enfield. The strange thing is his death certificate is back to a marylebone address, this man has moved quite a bit in his time.

ps i have no idea who this other james is and i am hopeing the other researchers mother is going to ballachulsh in the spring to check the church yard.

Yes,  :)
I struggled for a long time to trace my grandmother, I knew she was illegitimate and born in Cheshire.
I only found her mother for certain in 1911 , born Scotland 1854 and then managed to track her down . However the family had moved from North Wales to Scotland, then to Essex , then Cheshire and finally she ended up in Wrexham. North Wales.
I know all about families moving around  ::).

Hi

As the earliest you have identified your James in England is 1871, you now need to see if anyone can find the other James in 1871 in Scotland. At least you will then know there are two different families.

Don't forget the census only shows where a person was on census night - he might just have been visiting his daughter and not living there.

well all
I have been a bit naughty and peeked at the other researchers tree on a well known site, she has given me accsess i might add.
james clark c1843 spouse unknown his
father a james clark 1806 mother unknown
 james 1843 children
1 donald 1885      katie 1900
2angus 1887
3 john 1890         anne 1900
states james 1843 is from appin.

Im confused as on census james is son of john clark and his wife catherine.
I have tried to search 1871 census for james in scotland birth place appin
and i cant find him, maybe im hopeing i cant find him. Could there be two families
of clarks in appin. Maybe john has a brother james ?.

also states other james 1806 helped compile the Englis/gealic dictionary and spoke no English.
states he lived at 26 ballachulish, where as john clark lived at 47 weast larock.

john clark 1806 says he was born kilbrandon , ARGYLSHIRE.
