1881 Census.

James  COLLIER,  Family and  Boarder

Piece 0548  Folio  69  Page  16      42  Barlow St   NEWINGTON   Surrey

James  COLLINS,  Family  and  Boarder

Piece  0548  Folio  74  Page  25      94 Barlow St  NEWINGTON   Surrey

There are differences in Occupations  and  variations of  first names, birthplace,  Henry/Harry age by 1 year

is this all just coincidence?? OR is this the same family.
I do not have access to look at org.
Would be grateful if someone can look for me, and give  their opinion
Many thanks 2mm  :)

That is certainly very strange. They have the same boarder, whose occupation changes from one page to the other. The childrens' names and ages are marginally different - with Henry/Harry and Frederick/Frank but otherwise it does seem to be the same family.

I can't begin to explain that. It is either an amazing coincidence or this family has been listed at two separate houses.

Very odd. ??? ???

The only time I have seen that on a census was in Liverpool.  The person researching later told me that the couple owned and lived in a shop which was 2 houses joined together but in different roads (back to back terraced house).  The shop front was in one road and the living accommodation in another

The couple and their children appeared on the census at both addresses

I wondered whether one could be the home address and the other the shop/workshop. It would certainly be the most sensible explanation.

Hi Jen & Carol,  At least I now know I was not seeing things that are not there. I only found this by chance, I looked at both more than once, just thought it was a senior moment and it was time for me to go to bed.
I will stick with the possible shop/business use,  I don't think Gt. G/Dad was rich enough to pay rent on 2 houses.
Many thanks for checking the details
2mm  :) :)
