Manchester Grammar school lookup

would it be possible to see if either of my relatives attended the above

Harry Behn born 21/10/1901
Thomas Leslie Behn  17/8/1906

I have been looking where the brothers went to school, there father was a sugar merchant in Lancashire, they didn't attend Merchant Taylors with the rest of their half brothers.

I would appreciate any help

Hello Judy.

I'm afraid the index goes straight from Begley to Behrens, with no mention of the surname Behn.
I also checked Benn in case there had been a printer's error - negative result.

It may be that your relations did attend the school, but did not provide their details for the register, as it did rely to a certain extent on voluntary contributions.

Hi,

Would it be possible for someone to let me know if there were any boys at the school around 1911 with the name Wheeldon? Either James or Joseph. I think Joseph declined a scholarship there but the 1911 census shows James (born 1897/8) living close to the school and still at school at 13 which was unusual.
