Date help please
« on: Sunday 24 January 10 11:43 GMT (UK) »
Hello,  I have two pictures of my Grt Grandmother Mary Ann Thomas, who was a midwife, In the Bridgend area in Glamorgan.  The first one is of her in what looks like a nuns dress etc but she was a midwife not a nun..... this one is already dated on the back - 1929 - she died in 1933 aged 78 yrs so she was quite old in that one.  The second on is the one I would like dated please.  Im guessing that she is younger in this picture, although my husband thinks different !!!! what does anyone else think ??

Thank you
Jan

Sorry was only able to send one photo at a time....not very good at this.....this is the second photo of Mary Ann which I would like dated please.  I will have to send the other one seperate.

Had to crop photo a bit, to be able to send, but on the surround of the picture it says Durays portrait specialists.

Hi Jan

I'm a little confused now.

On the threads which included your other picture, you said that that was 1929.  Is this one the same year or earlier.

It does look earlier to me  :-\

I'd say she was in her 50s on this one, so about 1900-1905, maybe, given she was about 74 in 1929..

Just realised that you had problems putting both photos up together!

sorry I confused you, I did have trouble putting both pictures on together, so sent them one at a time, then realised I put the second photo on first etc etc.....sorry

Thanks anyway, yes I would think shes in about her 50s in this one as well.  I wonder if it would say on the 1911 census if she was a midwife, or does it only say the occupations of the men in the house ??

What was her husband's name?. We're not supposed to say much about the contents of the 1911 at the moment - FindMyPast restrictions.
