Hi Osprey,
given that you found two David Jenkins births in 1792, and the only David Jenkins we can find in 1871 was born M y Fedw and not Machen, is it possible please to search for a burial for the Machen one, between 1861 and 1871?
I have checked the 'online' Machen records, but don't know how to access others such as Risca (if they are available).
I have a FreeBMD Index for a DJ in 1872 2nd Q, Newport p122, but this could be M y F David.
Three of his sons were living in Aberystruth from 1861.
Hoping you can help,
best wishes,
Rob

Thanks for checking, Victor.
I now believe David Jenkins married Ann Jones in Machen, Mon. 18th July 1812.
Ann having been born in Bitton, Gloucs. 1788
Regards,
Rob

Hi
David Jenkins b1792 was my ggg grandfather. His son Henry was my gg grandfather.I've been researching my family history for about 5 years and from the beginning have thought that David's wife was Ann Jones b Bitton.Until this week ,while looking for other family details in Machen Church records ,I discovered there was another David Jenkins married to an Anne Harding.
I have also believed that David's parents were Edward and Ann Jenkins.
I'm going to try to find out if Ann Harding was born in Bitton so that would clear that part up
If I do find any new info I'll post it.
Best wishes Mag

Risca parish burial records show that an Ann Jenkins, Risca, was buried 24th July 1851, aged 64 yrs.
and a David Jenkins, Risca, was buried 22nd April 1872, aged 81 yrs.

Thanks for that Gerry.
That's definitely our David & Ann J.
Are you able to throw any light on Ann's maiden name? Harding or Jones?
Regards,
Rob

My gut instinct and the date of their possible marriage, 19th October 1811, and the date of birth of their first born, Elizabeth, 26th Jan 1812, is Harding !!
Risca burial records also give the following :- Elizabeth Jenkins, Machen, 14 yrs, buried 22nd May 1826.
William Jenkins, Machen, 3 yrs, buried 22nd May 1826. Very sad  !!
Also there is a memorial inscription on a slab over the grave of David and Ann Jenkins, which is located at section B, grave 52. Whether it is still readable I don't know, but if I get a chance I'll take a look.

Excellent, thanks Gerry.
I knew about Elizabeth and William births but had failed to find them after baptism.
Yes very sad indeed, was there some widespread illness at that time? or maybe an accident?

The info I have re the MI is Plot B52.
'In mem of Ann w/o David Jenkins of this Parish who died July 31 1851 aged 64 yrs. Also the said David Jenkins who died Apr 18 1872 aged 81.'

I haven't found any ref to the children.

Your help is much appreciated,
Rob
