baptism Priestcliffe, Which parish?
« on: Wednesday 27 January 10 14:02 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the baptism of Martha Hibbert born about 1814 Priestcliffe.

She married William Dunn in 1833 at Bakewell.

Is Priestcliffe in the parish of Bakewell or is it a separate parish?  Also, can anyone tell me where I can find parish records?  I have been lookng for Martha's baptism but it doesn't appear on Familysearch and Idon't know where else to look

Thanks for any help :)

Thanks Patrish, that sounds close enough to be feasible. :)

Does anyone know if there's a CD of BAkewell baptisms available?

Priestcliffe baptisms would normally have taken place in Taddington. Taddington may well itself come under Bakewell (I'm not certain from memory), but certainly has its own registers. These have also been transcribed by Val Neal.
Too many to list! But always particularly interested in my eight ggp lines : ALLEN, HODGKINSON, FLINT, SWINDELL, SHELDON, BINGHAM, JACKSON - all in Derbyshire; and ELLWOOD in Cambridgeshire

When I googled "Priestcliffe" it did appear somewhere that it was a "joint" parish with Taddington.

Genuki gives Taddington in the Bakewell registration district from 1839 - 1974 also Eyam and Eyam Woodlands.

So think that one is a good possibility  :)
