Grandad's Bullets
« on: Wednesday 27 January 10 16:38 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon All

I attach a picture of Grandad's bullets that were passed to me. Do they look like they are from WW1. Can you tell me anything about them ?

Thank you

They look like the 6.5 x 52mm used by the Italians during WW1, except they used a different clip.

You should be able to slid one of them out. On the base should be some markings. Could you post what they are. That should allow us to ID them.

K

If you are in the UK be very careful who you show them to as I believe it is a problem to even possess such items.

Only if they are live...

They are more than likely de activated, with the cordite removed.

I shouldn't worry too much.

If you have a problem, I can sort it for you ;) ;D

Thank for the answers so far. Here's a photo of the ends of the bullets.

I can't read what is actually on the bottom, but I can assure you that they HAVE been fired and are inert....

No problems with ANY firearms legislation

Thank you scrimnet

Have studied the bases whilst peering through a magnifying glass and see no writing they are pretty worn.

Glad they are safe !

Actually , I think that they may be "drill" rounds...

For practice and to learn how to load and unload the weapon safely...
