COMPLETED Do I have to change my email address?
« on: Wednesday 27 January 10 19:22 GMT (UK) »
This is probably a silly question but I'm not sure of the answer.
I have a yahoo address which is my main one and a secondary one which is Spantel.  I use Spantel ADSL which I will be discontinuing very soon.  I use Spantel for phone calls and some emails.  I will be leaving Spain and living in England can I still use my spantel email address - I think I can but would like confirmation.  Can someone help, please?

Much would depend on the ISP.

You`d be far better asking on a Spanish forum.

In the UK, most ISPs can`t be bothered to delete e-mail accounts, but some delete them instantly, even before the customer has moved to another ISP, I`ve got one with Tesco that must be 5 yrs old & hasn`t been deleted, but theres no gaurantee.

Yahoo shouldn`t be a problem, its I believe web mail & independent of the ISP, but again just check with others in your country.

Make sure you back up all your contacts.

Maybe open a Googlemail account (its free) & email all on your other accounts to use that in the interim, or grab a domain name & hosting & use that.

Theres plenty of different options.

Your Yahoo address is fine and there should be no problem with that.

The Spantel one, in theory should as Stevieuk has said be stopped as soon as your account with that ISP stops - whether it does or not is entirely at the whim of Spantel which would mean that you could not rely upon it with any great certainty at any time.

Thank you both for your replies.  There are only a few, RC being one, so I think to be sure I'll change them all to my main Yahoo address.
That sounds the simpler option,
