Edith M. Saggs, 16, travelling from Liverpool to St. John NB on the Scandanavian arriving 26 Dec 1919
She is going to Pentiction and the attached is a blow up of the person she is going to.  Perhaps Knott?

A good site to look for BMDs in England if you haven't used it before.

Debbie
This might be a sister.  I have a photo of my grandmother and sister? no name? near Penticton .  This is exciting!

There is a marriage for Edith Saggs to Antone Joseph Firbal in 1922 at Penticton.  If not a sister perhaps a niece, cousin?  There is a Edith Amelia on the British 1911 census but is not in the same location as the Islington London family that year.

Perhaps you could ask someone with access to BC records to look up Edith's marriage registration to see who her parents are.

There were 2 Saggs sisters, Daisy and Mary, who emigrated and settled in Kingston Ontario.  Daisy at 22 and Mary at 18 travelled on the Southwark from Liverpool to Montreal arriving 5 Oct 1907.  Their marriage registrations give parents of Arthur Saggs and Elizabeth Sarah Jenkins.  I know it's the wrong province but information to file away in case it proves relevant.

Hi Brookmere,

Do you have access to the BC Archives Vital Events microfilm?  I have found that the marriage and death registrations there contain a wealth of information.  If you do, it might be worth looking at the marriage registration for Harry Smith and Kathleen Saggs and also Harry's and Kathleen's death registrations.  If you don't, you might want to ask if a Rootschatter can do some look-ups for you.  Just provide the info from the BC Archives site to identify the records.

Do you have any idea where your grandfather Nott was from?  What was his complete name?

Susan

I am going to the library to gain some access to the bc archives microfiches. Have the death certificate for grandmother but it doesn't give much info.  just her maiden name.
also Harry Smith (first marriage??) seems to have died the same year as the marriage.  I will explore further.
My grandfather came from hutchinson minnesota and his complete name was Willis Leroy Nott.  I am on that trail as well. But I cannot find any record of their marriage, at least not in bc.  Starting to check alberta and washington state???
thanks for your help

Have you also looked for transcribed records for Knott and William instead of Willis.

ancestry.com
I checked out this site which is a pay site but if you put as much information in as possible it will give you little pieces of information that you may decide to follow up on.

1880 US Census
Willis L. Nott
b. 1876 Minnesota
Res. Hutchinson, McLeod, Minnesota

1900 US census
Willis L. Nott
Res. 1900, McLeod, Minnesota

British Columbia Death Index 1872-1979
Willis Leroy Nott
Death 1953

There is a family tree which has a William Leroy Nott same birth date, 1876

On ancestry.com you will find:

1.  Willis "Le Roy" Nott the U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, that notes that Kathleen Emily Nott is his relative.  There is an image of the card.

2.    Willis Leroy Nott in the Washington, Marriage Records married Kathleen E. Smith 30 Jul 1916 in Republic, Washington, USA.  Kathleen notes this is her second marriage.  This document has a lot of information and the original document is available to view.

There are a few trees by public members that may assist in clarifying information.  Hope this helps.
