My pleasure.  If you do a single word reply to this it'll give you the 3 posts - personal messaging can then be used and I can send you the 2 items previously described.  Regards,   Steve

A quick search of the IGI brings up a ch. on 15 Jan 1786 for an Ann Aiken, dau, of John Aiken and Elizabeth Middleton.  You'd have to get her death entry to confirm.

Possible b/ch for George Dey.  07 July 1788 to John Dey and Margaret Watt at Cairnie, by Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

Can't find the deaths on SP.  Either died before 1855 or I can't see them......

Hello

If you follow the link below which takes you to the National Library for Scotland - maps section

http://www.nls.uk/maps/os/6inch/index.html

Glick on the zoomable with Google overlay

make sure the left tab is used initially

Identify where Aberdeen is
Look for Huntly - which is to the NW of Aberdeen
Zoom in on Huntly by clicking until Thomastown appears to Huntlys south east
Click down on Thomastown until there are 3 bars left on the slider to the top left of the page.
Now click on the 'Historic' tab on the right of the page.
You are now in the area which George Dey and wife and wifes family lived.
Zoom down till on 2 bars are left on the slider - the map will change again - leave it on Historic view.
About 1 page to the SE of Thomastown you will find Hillhead of Thomastown where I think Thomas lived on marriage.
To the north of Thomastown you'll Newtongarry Hill and surrounding area swhere the Petries would have lived.

If you're unable to, I can save a screen capture whilst at work and forward it.
But that won't be for another 2 weeks.

Link to location of parish:
http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/search/index.php?page=4&p_type=PARISH&p_name=drumblade&id=734&p_county=aberdeenshire&cache_name=111parishdrumblade734

Type in Drumblade in the ‘Geograph’ website to get local images such as these.

Anyone else out there able to fill in census gaps?  Thank you.

Regards,  Steve

If you go to www.freecen.org.uk

change the tab to 1841 and enter census county and county of birth as Aberdeenshire and year of birth as 1830  You find a 12 year old George Day working as a farm labourer in the Parish of Glass which is a Parish but one to the west of Drumblade

Have attached a link which should give an overview

http://www.scotlandsfamily.com/county-map.htm

Also, the Vision of Britian website will give more info on the parish.  Enter Drumblade in the search box - takes you to another page.  There will also be a map there for you to zoom in and out and search as well as several stats boxes.

Regards,   Steve

(Have had a look and cannot find any death entries for either James Dey or wife Ann Aiken in either the OPRs or post 1855 records.  If anything they look to have died pre 1855).

Hi cdey!

James Dey & Ann Aikin from Huntly are my great x 3 grandparents - I descend from their son Alexander Dey born 1824.

In my tree I have your William Petrie Dey emigrating to Chauvin, Alberta.  He visited Scotland in 1948 onboard the Queen Mary.

Happy to share the Dey family tree with you.
