Marriage of Theophilus Phillips **Completed**
« on: Monday 01 February 10 16:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I wonder if someone could find marriage of Theophilus Phillips and Sarah X please.
1841 census has Theo aged 45, Sarah aged 35 and living in Govilon, Mon. but neither born in county.
First born was Daniel aged 15 born in county.

1851 census shows Sarah as a midwife, but is now a widow aged 46, born in Hereford, Clodock.
HO107/2447/68/25

Hope you can help,

Yes that looks pretty good to me.
Thank you ever so much,

Hello avm228,
I'm happy that these are my Theo and Sarah.
Am I correct in thinking that, now I have a date for their marriage, a trawl through marriage records for Clodock and Longtown should be relatively straightforward, and would produce their fathers names?
If so, would the records be in Hereford?
Best regards,
Rob

I'm not familiar with the locations of Herefordshire records, but you may get some assistance with that from www.genuki.org or from others with local knowledge on this board.

Given that the marriage in indexed on IGI as an extracted record you can of course order the fiche to your local LDS Family History centre, if you have a local one - see http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp. You can then inspect the records there.

Don't expect to find the couple's fathers' names though - pre-1837 parish records generally (with some wonderful exceptions) do not contain this information.

I'll try the local FH centre and order the fiche.

Thanks Anna for your help and advice.
Kind regards,
Rob
