dutson family
« on: Thursday 04 February 10 14:02 GMT (UK) »
hi all i'm new to this site. i'm looking for any information. i have found on the 1911 census
Henry dutson D.O.B abt 1871 living with his two children elsie s r dutson D.O.B 1906 (my great grandmother)  and son henry c r dutson D.O.B 1905 and a adopted son allfred w lewis D.O.B 1899

i have found henry's wife on the same census but living in a different address her name was annie e dutson nee lewis she living in the vicarage of st George church, brinsop. The head of the household was CLERGYMAN CHARLES HENRY STOKER and annie was the cook.

i am finding it hard to find henry and annie parents all i know is henry father was called thomas dutson and annie was william lewis. from what i can tell alot of the family were born in bromyard or yarkhill.

i hope this information makes sense i'm not sure what to do next

thanks lara

thanks for the information its says on annie death cert that she was born 11 Mar 1879. On the census its says she was born in hereford.

i'm stuggling with henry dutson because on the 1911 census it gives his d.o.b as 1871 but on some army records it says 1875 and i don't know when or were he died. the family moved to darwen lancashire at some point but i don't know why.

thanks again lara

Hi Lara,

I would guess that the birth reg for Henry Dutson is the one registered at Ledbury (Jun qtr 1869) 6a 433.

On the 1911 census, Elizabeth Price is living with the family and listed as aunt, which I am guessing is the same Elizabeth Price that Annie is living with on the 1891 census in Tillington RG12; Piece: 2060; Folio 30; Page 12

I think Aunt Elizabeth's maiden name is Sava/iger (married John Price Sept qtr 1885, Hereford 6a 761), and is on the 1881 census in Burghill RG11; Piece: 2591; Folio: 25; Page: 17

If Elizabeth had been an aunt on the paternal side, her maiden name would have been Lewis, so perhaps we can assume that she is an aunt on the maternal side.  In which case Sava/iger might be the maiden name of Annie's mother...........

As per 1851 census:  Elizabeth's parents were Samuel (35, bn Pembridge) and Jane (36 bn Kington) and sisters Annie (11, bn Pembridge) and Mary (2 bn Netherton, Worcs)

My cunning theory may come crashing down around me cos I can't see a William Lewis/Savager marriage...... ::)

hi thanks for the help and information  :)

I not sure what to do i can find thomas dutson and his wife sarah nee lane and there children but i want to be sure that they are henry's parents. If they are then his d.o.b was 1869 but on the 1911 census its says he was 38 which would make his d.o.b 1872 and then on some army records it puts his d.o.b 1875. I'm a little confused as i don't want to go down the wrong path.

Also i have no idea why the family moved from hereford to darwen lancashire.

thanks again

He's the only Henry Dutson born Yarkhill with a father Thomas that I can see. What age did he give at marriage? What was his address at marriage and who were the witnesses?
