my great-grandparents john byrne and catherine pender were born in co. wexford around 1840 and 1835. they may have married in 1859 in 1859 around tintern. john was a gunner in the royal artillery and the familily moved frequently. a son william was born in dungannon in 1861. two daughters catherine and alice were born in nova scotia, canada between 1863 and 1866. then john was posted to gibraltar around 1867 where three more daughters and a son john were born. with the exception of two of the daughters the family settled in gibraltar after john retired from the army.
john's parents were probably named william byrne and catherine rushford and catherine's parents were patrick pender and mary mcdermott.
any information on the family would be appreciated
regards john byrne
