Hi All.

Richard I looked at the post 1813 deaths John listed
and there was no additional info.

I do know there was a Chapel at Husborne Crawley
as well as C of E, as a Sibley was a founder member.

George and John are together on the 1841, both Carpenters.

Richard

I'm descended from the same family through Mary Lewis (1811) who married Richard Norman also of Husborne Crawley.

George and Mary appear to have moved to Husborne Crawley around 1805 as they seem to have had their eldest son Daniel baptised at Willen on 31/3/1803. He married in Husborne Crawley in 1822.

I don't know what became of the elder Thomas

Hi Petros

Always nice to stumble across a distant cousin on here!  I'd found your Mary - I have her down as ch. 3 Feb 1811, Husborne Crawley and d.1891 in Woburn district.  Unlike her brother Thomas who moved about a bit, she appears in her native Husborne Crawley in evey census.  I'd also got Daniel - he left Husborne Crawley some time between 1851 and 1861 and spent the rest of his life as a farmer at Cranfield, where he died on 20 Feb 1875, leaving a will and an estate valued at under £200.

As far as I understand it, your Mary and my Thomas were the children of:

George Lewis
ch. 1 Mar 1778, Willen, Buckinghamshire
d. 1 May 1857, Husborne Crawley, Bedfordshire
Agricultural labourer

m. 7 Jun 1802, Willen, Buckinghamshire

Mary Goodman
ch. 26 May 1776, Willen, Buckinghamshire
d. 1860, Woburn registration district

George's parents were a Thomas Lewis and Sarah (maiden name unknown), whilst Mary Goodman's parents were Henry Goodman and Susannah Holmes.

That's as far as I've got with the Lewises.  Family tradition has it that they were Welsh, but I haven't found anything to support that yet.

Regards
Richard.

Richard

Nice to make your acquaintance. I only started poking around again recently on the Lewis side. There are still Normans living and being buried in HC BTW.

I agree with what you have for certain
for Thomas Lewis I have a note of bap 17/11/1742 at Salford, Beds and buried on 10/3/1823 at Willen, no wife details that I've found
If born at Salford his parents were John Lewis and Elizabeth Rogers married Linslade 29/6/1735

Henry Goodman's parents may be Robert Goodman and Ann Cox, their Henry was baptised at Bletchley 10/8/1755 and buried at St Mary's Bletchley 2/2/1806.

Hi Peter

Just looking back at my notes properly, I do have one extra snippet - Sarah (wife of Thomas) Lewis buried 16 Mar 1793 at Willen.

I've wondered about the Salford baptism - it's certainly close, as the Thomas Lewis who was buried at Willen in 1823 was described as aged 83, implying born 1739 or 1740.  It would be nice if I could find a marriage for Thomas and Sarah though.

Regards
Richard.
