Harry McElhone Dundee Scotland
« on: Thursday 17 March 05 20:54 GMT (UK) »

I am looking for information on a Harry mcElhone who lived his early years in Dundee . He lived with George and Helen Jenkins.  Both Helen and George were 28/29 years in 1900.

Any suggestions as to how I should start to trace him?

Thanks for reading this,

Forbes,

What information do you have so far about Harry?  Age?  Anything?

McElhone does not seem to be a common name in Scotland (though there may well be variant spellings).  In the IGI, there are only 14 entries for McElhone in Scotland - including a Henry McElhone, b 1871 in Glasgow.

Have you tried searching on ScotlandsPeople?  This paying site is at:
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
A search for McElhone on the free surname search on its home page shows that there are not all that many entries for people of that name

I am looking for information (at this early search stage) for my family name (McELhone and Kinghan) and note these christian names 'Henry, Patrick, Mary' - all in my family here in NI.  I wonder is there any connection at all - anyone any advice or information?
