I am attaching a photo. Someone on this site (the restoration and dating area of Roots) suggested that the lady was perhaps wearing Scottish National Dress. I don't think that's likely as we have no Scottish people in the family and I have been told that she is definitely a direct ancestor of granny or grandfather. If I can determine whether or not the dress is not typically English then it will help with which side of the family she's from!
