Ann Paxton - born about 1800
« on: Friday 05 February 10 19:35 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find a birth / baptism record for Anne Paxton born about 1800 in the hope that it might lead to information on her parents etc.

She married my ancestor Peter Atkinson in Norham Parish Church on 31st. December 1824. They lived at Horncliffe Mill where their two eldest were born and later Ancroft Mill where another six children were born.   All were baptised at Golden Square Presbyterian Church in Berwick. Ann died at Ancroft aged 47 years - buried 18th. November 1847. Husband Peter was buried 4 months later on 26tth. March 1848 - aged 55 years.

There has been no success in tracing a birth / baptism record for Ann in Northumberland  in both Anglican and non-anglican records so far.

Another  possibility is that she was born across the Tweed from Norham  in Ladykirk or the surrounding area. Not sure again whether this would be recorded in the established church or in Presbyterian records etc., although Presbyterian seems more likely.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Rob.

Oh dear.  Must be getting cross eyed.  Birth date was definitely 1800 not 1830
(Must have been thinking sub-consciously of the next "Ann" down the line.)
Have modified the post.

I believe there was a United Presbyterian Church  etc. inthe area from about 1786 as well as the established Church.
