No births for Robert or John Harper born 1855 - 1940, in Dumfries :(

A marriage in 1882 for a John Harper.

Someone may be able to find John on the '81 census for you.

Hi

Are you sure Robert J died in 1997

I am sending you a pm with details of the 1936 marriage - a copy of the cert will give his age and his fathers name

How old was your grandfather when he died?

I ask because there is a Robert John Harper born in Morton in Dumfriesshire in 1894, but that would make him 103 at his death if he is your grandfather.

If you think he is, you need to go to Scotlands People.   The reference is 843.000029

There's a John on the 1881 census, in Morton, no Robert though.

Abraham first pops up in Morton, on the 1871 census.

There's a Robert and a John there, also.
