The big question is - who are his family?  A name like Jones is fairly common and there could well be a choice.

Perhaps you'd give us some clues - details from his marriage certificate would help to start with, what is his father's name and occupation? what address did they marry from and what age did he give?  Witnesses names also help as they may be relatives.

What is the last census you have him in? please give details including reference, and does his age match that on the marriage certificate?

No information at all, I'm afraid.
I know he married a Susannah Lewis ( B 1837, NEWMARKET) , and that a child (Peter) was born in
1857. They moved to Dyserth .

Hi Huwcyn

Have you spotted the wedding on NorthWales BMD in 1856 at St Bridgets Dyserth between Robert Jones and Susanah Lewis? A look up or copy of the certificate would of course confirm his father. Peter does seem to be a common thread but as I know in one branch of my family there were more Peter's around than you would expect.

Peter
Jones, Edwards, Davies, Owen, Benjamin , Hughes , Roberts,Thomas,Williams, Wynne , Griffiths, Howells, Rowlands etc etc
plus
Thomas,Trewren,Holmes,Thirlwall,Jones again & again
& more

There are about half a dozen Peters around Newmarket at the time - none of them match so far, unfortunately. Robert's son, Edward Lewis Jones , is described as a nephew of his future father-in-law (Owen Jones) in a census (the 1891 , if I remember correctly) , so I was hoping for a quicker solution .
It looks now as if the description was misleading , as that generation is well-documented.
