Hello, thanks for that info.....so it would be of no use asking M/cr Archives office for a scan or photo copy?
Do you have any suggestions how I would go about getting the names of their parents.

Hello Mrs G
Mancsman is correct in his reply and I know from my own experience that to get further back in your research at this time can be more difficult . I suppose you may be fortunate to have an an unusual surname and that would possibly help . I am certainly no expert in research in 18th century but I could tell you how I would try to go about it .
It may be worth trying to look at the marriage register at the archives in respect of the two marriages although before civil registration in 1837 fewer details were recorded and certainly not parent's details .
I think I am right in saying though that one of the parties may have stated on the marriage entry that they were from a particular parish and this may not have been Manchester , although I do know that parties lodged at houses in the parish in which they got married .
You may be lucky and find that they were from a smaller parish than Manchester and from there you could possibly turn to that parish and their Churches for baptisms . Some baptismal records hold more information than others .
Do you have any naming traditions in your family ? I know there are many similar christian names at this time but occasionally you may get a name that has been taken from grandparent as a surname and used as a christian name throughout the family .

I hope you understand my comments and as as a novice I would welcome any other views and comments from more experienced rootschatters about this topic.
Good luck
Eric  :)

I am not sure how this thread began but this link might help with Lancashire BMD's prior to 1837 including M/cr Cathedral. http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html
