Hi Margie

A quick stab at the date but I may be way out!  I think the square neckline was 'in' in the early 1900s (so 1901-1905)  -  not really enough to go on to be sure - I'd like to see more of the dress (impossible, I know! ). Is there anything on the back that might help with the dating.

I'll PM Jim who knows these things  :)

Thank,s Gadget,
I now have a real mystery the lady in question was born 1887 which given the dates 1901-1905 would make her age 14-18 I am not an expert at this but she looks much older any thoughts on this please.
Margie.

She could just about be 18-20, Margie.

A youngish if sad face. I also think that the chain and cross on this and the other photo might be the same or very similar. Also, if the family were not very well off, she might not have been wearing the latest fashions and this might put her back a couple of years or so . Although, in those days, women were very good with their needles.
