Trees, can't wait to see what develops!   Gotta go get 2 hours of sleep before getting ready for work.  Had insomnia and your group kept me busy!

There's a public tree on Ancestry which includes a John Archer b1845 England, d 1880 Shabonna, Dekalb, IL.  His wife is named Rebecca.  One son, John Samuel b1880 is listed.  The treeowner doesn't give parents for John, but it looks a likely link between the John Archer whose death LissaM found and the family of John and Elizabeth.

A summary of what we have found
The marriage
309   09 Dec 1871
George   ARCHER   full age   Bachelor   Labourer   Paulton   John   ARCHER   Farmer
Elizabeth   CARTER   18   Spinster      Paulton   John   CARTER   Collier
Wits:   James   CARTER   Sarah   BLACKER   Banns

James and Sarah Blacker nee Carter are Priscilla Elizabeth CARTER's siblings all children of John amd PRiscilla nee Pain

(I am looking at the Carters of Paulton)
No ARCHERs appear in Paulton on the 1871 census which seems strange

The couple are not on the 1881 census so we wondered if they emigrated but where too

Found (thanks to fellow chatters)
1880 census for Shabona DeKalb Co., IL
Georgr Archer 30 Elizabeth 25   both born England
Sarah 7 john 6 and George 4    born Illinois
and
1900,  George and Elizabeth Archer  w/ 2 sons are in Jackson Co., MO (Blue Township) which is rural area near Kansas City, MO.
Sons John H  (Cable Car Conductor) and George W  (Hoestler)   George is a farmer.
Elizabeth says 2 children born and 2 children living. No mention of daur Sarah
and back in DeKalb (County and City of) IL.
Samuel Archer age 50  Samuel is b. in England  His immigration date is 1863.   Wife Sarah  age 49  says  b. in IL and  her parent are also from IL.   There may be a discrepancy in the "No. of years married" -   Samuel says 25 -  very bold writing and very faintly over the top it looks like "20" written in.  Sarah says 20 years married.      Samuel is in real estate.  They have 2 children,  Wilbur 12  and Mildred 9  and several students boarders in the household.  They are living on South 2nd Street.
US censuses for 1910 and 1920 shows up George and Elizabeth Archer born in England in c1850 and c1855, now living in Brazoria, Texas.  In 1910. Elizabeth is Elizabeth P Archer.
familysearch site has Texas death certificates.  Unfortunately, their son, George W was unable to supply George's parents' names when registering his death, but Elizabeth's father is shown as John Carter

then we had

John Archer  Age 35   Male White Married
Born in England  Est. Year of Birth: 1845   Month of Death: Dec
Cause Of Death: Brights Disease
Census Year: 1880
Census Location: Shabbona, De Kalb, Illinois
and

1880 census last posted which could be George's father remember the marriage says father john a farmer

Reply 17 LissaM.

The last 3 children were born Illinois - Robert, Rowland and Frank. The rest are down as Eng.

This is Robert under a mis-spelling in 1910. Immigration says 1870.
E Robert Ricker 71 Married 47 years
Martha Ricker 69 Had 11 children - 6 survive Married 49 years
B Josephe Ricker 46

gosh this is a complicated search
I have found a 1871 census
Robert Archer b 1834 Cheshire with children
Lucy Ann Archer     18
Joe L Archer    14
George H Archer    12
Mary E Archer    8
Jane Alice Archer    6

But his wife is Mary born 1826 in AMERICA
reply 17 has Robert with Martha ch George,Joseph, Mary M slightly out in age Oh dear is this another red herring

Is Paw Paw near Shabona so at least john is definitely in the USA in 1870 now where was George ? was he on his way back to marry Elizabeth talk about long distance romance
I have sent an email to the a..y tree owner it hasn't bounced yet

Hmmmm.  No Alfred though on the 1871 UK and the family are still in Cheshire on the 1881 census.
Think I need a spreadsheet to keep up with who belongs to who.
