kev,

 The only samuel sollors marriage in about the right region I could find was this one.

Marriages Dec 1850
~~~~~~~~
Sollors  Samuel    Stroud  11 689
However, no brides name is listed and stoud is 45 mins north of bristol and 4 miles from Gloucester.
Im searching the surname Holbrow mostly from Bedminser, Clifton and bristol. But in now stuck.
Berkshire FHS has a lot of records for Bedminster and Bristol, so Monday morning im going there to look up my Holbrow family.
I will try find Samuels marriage record and look up the 1851  and 1861 census.
Will send you a message on monday evening of anything I find.
Holbrow- BRISTOL AND SURROUNDING
MCBETH- CARLISLE
FURSDON,POPE -DEVON
Hi The unfortunate thing with 51 census is although it is indexed it is only indexed by head of household and we r talking such common names...And So many areas of Bristol and of course still not sure if it is Bristol or Bedminster...Samuel was easy We knew his name and it was uncommon...I Just Tried St Phillip Jacob out of curiousity and just so many names like Fox and Fry..Taking Forever and thats still only St Philip Jacob....there is A Sarah Ann Fox 11 a Sarah Ann Fry 12 and that is only one parish and a couple poss names...We really do need the marriage for the fathers name but u did go through 1837 Online for that didnt u Kev? Kris  ???
Hi Kev, I think its Fry. I cut and pasted the certificate into a word doc and fiddled around with the contrast etc. If you do this I think it is clearer to see that the second letter matched other 'r's on the certificate -  and the angle on the down stroke of the 'y' matched others also.
Not as sure of first letter but would bet on 'f' folloed by 't'
You have got us all intrigued over this!!
Yes Kris been all through 1837online and freebmd and ancestry, no sign of marriage. I like the look of sarah ann fry or fox though the 11 and 12 year olds age would be bang on. Will try search for marriages with them.
Hello Kev,
Just a thought here, is this a photocopy of the original or a handwritten copy of the certificate?
I have purchased certs before and some of them have been copied by hand and not originals copied.
Cos then you could get in touch with whomever you ordered your cert from and ask if they can have another look at the register???
hi valerie, it is a photo copy of the original, would they do that if i rang them?
I do know the gro numbers for other kids birth certs, thought about ordering another to see if that is clearer, obviously if i can ring them saves 7 quid!!!
I have ordered certificates from Southport and on one occasion I could not read it. I wrote to the registrar in the district it was issued, asking for an interpretation and I got a reply. May be worth a try.
I think the surname is FRY.
Hill in Tavistock, Twose and Coles in Halberton, Flower in Havant and Wells.
Negus in Polebrook  Jones in Kingswinford, Phillips in Chirk, Dodd in Cheshire
Well i have a death for a sarah ann sollars bristol, 1888 age 55.
And i have a christening for sarah ann fry clifton 1833 parents john fry and sarah.
They seem to match but no marriage anywhere.
Also her age would be 5-7 years out.
