The major work of the Women’s History Project is to survey and list sources relevant to the history of women in Ireland. Two major databases have been created from work which was undertaken between October 1997 and August 2001. Both are available for online searching.

The Directory of Sources for Women's History in Ireland and Women in 20th-Century Ireland, 1922-1966 are on the National Archives of Ireland website.

People who may have an interest in how Irish women in their family tree found life in the nineteenth century may like to take the time to read Carolyn Conley's lengthy article ... "No pedestals: women and violence in late nineteenth-century Ireland" Carolyn mentions that "there are several areas in which the Irish court's views on women and violence differed significantly from those found in England." She says that "these strains on familial bonds may be traced to the famine." http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2005/is_n4_v28/ai_17149971/pg_1
