Hello Maz and a warm welcome to Rootschat :)

I have no personal knowledge about the home, but according to

http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/portal/page?_pageid=221,591118&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

the records for St Vincent's Orphan Home for Boys are held at the Middlesbrough Diocesan Archives.  Follow the link on the page for further information. You may find that there are issues of closure of information relating to individual boys, for example if it is deemed too recent.

I hope you find what you are looking for.  Rootschatters will always be keen to help you in your research, so do raise any questions you have on these boards.

Anna :)

You're more than welcome.

If you want help on tracing your father's family back, don't hesitate to post a thread with all the information you have as to names, dates, etc. and I can assure you that people will do everything they can to assist. There's a wealth of experience here; the only thing we can't help you do is trace (or identify) living people, as it is contrary to the rules of Rootschat. If they're deceased, Rootschatters (collectively) can usually help you to find them!

Hello mrsmac1,
I was at st V's Hull early 1950s.
I recall twoAlberts whilst I was there.  One surnamed Siddaway, had no brothers at St V's Hull. The other named Fawcett  he had two brothers 'living' there. I believe this family originated in York.
