Hello,

Thank you for your efforts!  You have certainly spruced him (and his regalia) up very nicely.
I have been so used to seeing old photos in monochrome that a multi-coloured image comes as an interesting surprise.

The original studio photograph is in my possession. I believe it to be the only copy but I must check it out with two other family members about copyright. If they are in agreement I can scan the picture at 300dpi. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

This is a fine print of James William Archer from Hull (1880 - 1946) wearing his Tee Total Band of Hope Regalia. Please can you freshen him up a bit and get rid of the mould traces which have crept in over the years. He'll then cut more of a dash at the Grand Lodge or whatever.

Many Thaks,

Hi LockeLad
I’m helping someone who is writing a memoir for her family for a significant birthday. She has asked me to clean up her family photos for her to add to the memoir.
James William Archer is her Grandfather and she would love to use your image in her book. Do you by any chance own the original photo? And would it be alright for her to use it please? It will only be distributed to her family for her birthday surprise and not sold to the public at all.
It would need to be scanned at a dpi of 300 or more so that the quality is good enough to be reprinted. I hope that you don’t mind me asking? And thank you in advance for any help or advice you can give. Of course it may turn out that you are related to her which would be a lovely twist to the story.

All the best

Hello,

It is OK for you to use the photo as requested. This is the second time that I have sent a message but I am not sure that you have received it.

That's great news thank you very much. no I didn't get a reply before today just now. How would I get the higher resolution image from you please? Do I have to put my email address on this chat? Or can we privately message each other?

Thanks

Hello,

The original studio print at 9.5cm by 15cm is quite grainy. I have scanned it at 300dpi, with a bit trimmed from the top of the picture, and got the file size as 499Kb. The maximum allowed on RootsChat is 500Kb!

You will need to get it worked on by an expert on RootsChat (or similar elsewhere) if one is willing to bring it to a more attractive appearance using their image refining techniques.

Best that I can do!
