Dunbar Road & St Ann's Road Portsmouth
« on: Tuesday 16 February 10 12:56 GMT (UK) »
I wonder whether any rootschatters could help.....I need to find a photograph of both Dunbar Road and St Ann's Road in Portsmouth.  My elderly mother lived in these roads during WW2 -  I would love to be able to provide her with some memories as she has never been back to Portsmouth.    Any help will be most appreciated :)

There is one of Dunbar Road here:

and another close by:

St. Ann's Road here:

The site is wonderful for modern pictures of Britain.  This particular photographer lives in Portsmouth and has taken hundreds of the area!

Or were you wanting older ones, from the war?

Many thanks for this link, Little Nell  :)     Ideally I would like to get some war time images but I appreciate that this would be somewhat difficult, if, indeed, any existed  -still at least I have got something to show my mother.

Many thanks nanny jan also......I was not aware of the Bing map site but this will prove useful as well.   :)

Hampshire Record Office has a picture archive and you can search it online.  I'm not sure what there may be for this area of Portsmouth.

Hi

For war time photos you could try Portsmouth City Museum / Record Office or Library.

Portsmouth is a unitary authority.  There was quite a lot of landmine damage in the area of Dunbar Road so there may be something.  Also there are many books available with war time photos.
