Hi leandra

Before 1890 passenger lists leaving the UK is very sparse. It is best to try where the ship landed. In that case it is best to try the port the ship docked at New Zealand.

 - no Doody but there's "Domkey"?
The person you are looking for could have been a crew member perhaps?
Or just missed off this particular list.

Hello coombs and jorose,

Many thanks to both of you for replying, I have contacted the Maritime Museum in Wellington where the shipped docked to see if they have any further information.
I think I might be clutching at straws with this one, my  G G Grandfather seems to have appeared in NZ magically ::)

Kind regards

Hi garstonite,

Thanks so much for your reply :)

That most certainly is my Doodys, in Oxford NZ, exactly where I am!

The trouble with my Michael is how he got here, I think I might never find his ship as it was before 1874, but who knows maybe a shipping list will turn up with his name on it.

I live in hope.

Kindest regards

It is a pity that pre 1890 passenger lists dont survive with a few exceptions but very few.
