Bruce. Great Smeaton North Yorkshire

I am new to this website.
I have researched Bruce's back to Thomas Bruce who married Elizabeth Bruce.  They lived in Great Smeaton in North Yorkshire and had 4 children all christened at St Eloy in Great Smeaton.  The first child in 1759.  I am struggling to get any further back.  Does anyone have any information that might help
