Sunnyside Cemetery
« on: Thursday 18 February 10 19:16 GMT (UK) »
Any of you lovely people able to tell  me where exactly Sunnyside Cemetery is?  I have discovered a great aunt who died in 1932, aged 19, is buried there but am unsure of exactly where this is.  If it was Menstrie, could get to Logie Cemetery  no problem.  Any directions much appreciated.

hi Caz

Sunny side cemetry is in Sauchie/Alloa opposite the entrance to what used to be called Clackmannan College probably now called the Alloa campus of Forth Valley College.

Let me know if that's clear enough. i'm assuming you are more or less in the area.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for that, I'm actually in West Lothian, but mums family all came from Menstrie, so know the area not too badly.  Am sure I'll be able to find the Cemetery and have a wander around to see if I can locate a gravestone.

Caz,

If you are going to visit, I suggest you ring the Cemeteries Department in advance to see when someone might be at the office by the entrance to the Cemetery.  I think they have the burial registers there, and if you know the date when your great aunt died, they should be able to tell you which lair she is buried in, point you in the right direction to find the grave, and possibly also tell you if anyone else is buried in the same lair.  They were very helpful when I visited many years ago.

David.

Thanks for that David, never thought of doing that *blonde moment*.
If I know where someone is buried I tend to go walkabout in the Cemetery and just wait for the hands pointing me in the right direction lol, and when I say "hands" I mean just that, happened when wandering around Logie Kirkyard looking for grave of one set of gt grandparents, which I didn't find, but I did get "directed" by something or someone to  headstone of other set of gt grandparents, which at the time I was not even looking for  :o
