Thomas Gilmuir
« on: Thursday 18 February 10 22:23 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out about my GGG Granddad, His name was Thomas Gilmore, He had my G G Grandad William Gilmore with  Jane McKibbon/ McCubbin 1839 Glasserton.
I went on 1841 Census and found this Thomas Gilmuir at Whithorn with his Father Thomas and his Mother Catherine, Thomas is age 25 they are from Ireland, one the 1851 census Thomas is still in Whithorn.
I do not know if Gilmuir is suppose to be Gilmour, I have come to a dead end with William's Dad  (Thomas),  I have done all of William Mum (jane McKibbon/McCubbin) side.
Hope some one can help.
Thank You

Hi McCubbin,
There are several name variants for Gilmuir and Gilmour is one. Others are Gilmure, Gilmur, Gilmoure, Gilmoore etc.
I see the Thomas you have found but haven't found him in any others yet.
